OFFICE HOURS
Our offices are open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (closed holidays).
Our Registered Nurses are available to answer your questions Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. Early morning is the best to call if you are not feeling well.
NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
There is always one doctor on call when the office is closed. After hours, please call 717-761-8740 (our answering service) and they will be able to put you in touch with the physician on call.
EMERGENCIES
In urgent situations, we prefer that you call us so we may advise you. In life-threatening situations in which you do not have time to call us first, you may go to the emergency room at Harrisburg Hospital or Holy Spirit Hospital where you will be seen by an emergency room physician until one of us can be contacted.

HOSPITALS
We are on staff at Harrisburg Hospital and Holy Spirit Hospital. We admit to 3 hospitals, Harrisburg Hospital and Community General Osteopathic, which are part of the Pinnacle Health System and Holy Spirit Hospital.

FAMILY ORIENTED CARE
We welcome any family member who accompanies you. That individual may go with you when you see the doctor and/or receive medications and instructions, if you desire. Office space is difficult to accommodate more than one family member; however, we can arrange for special conferences.

DRUGS AND PRESCRIPTIONS
Ask the doctor during office appointments for new prescriptions to last until your next visit. In the event you run low on medication before an appointment, call the office and give the name of the drug, dose and pharmacy telephone number so we can call in the prescription. Remember! Pharmacists will not accept telephone orders for narcotics. You must pick up a written narcotic prescription or have it mailed to you.

CHEMOTHERAPY
If your problem requires chemotherapy treatments, a schedule of drugs will be discussed with you in detail by the doctors. Also, you will have a teaching session with one of our nurses and receive up-to-date information concerning your disease, drugs and diet. All our nurses are Registered Nurses and members of the Oncology Nursing Society where they are Oncology Certified Nurses.

LABORATORY TESTS
Most patients require blood tests. We send those tests we cannot perform in our office to outside reference labs and they will bill you. Our laboratory is a state-certified laboratory and also a participant in the Quality Control Program of the American Association of Bio-Analysts. Our lab technicians are all certified.

TELEPHONE CALLS
If you call us about a problem that is not an emergency, please leave your name and phone number with our receptionist and we will call you as soon as time permits. This allows us to maintain the office appointment schedule and avoid delays for our patients who are being seen. We ask that non-emergency calls be made during office hours (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) so we can meet your needs more promptly and accurately by having your records available.

OFFICE APPOINTMENTS
Our physicians work on a rotating schedule, each one taking their turn seeing patients either at the office or the hospital. For this reason, we will schedule you during your course of treatment and care to be seen by several members of our physician staff. This approach allows each physician to become acquainted with you personally and offers you the clinical expertise of more than one specialist. In the event you are ever hospitalized, the physician who is covering the hospital will be familiar with you and the management of your treatment. We recognize that you may have a physician preference and we can usually accommodate this if at the time of making an appointment you request a specific physician for your next office visit. Requests the day of an appointment can not always be met due to prior scheduling.

MEDICAL INSURANCE
We participate with Medicare, Highmark Blue Shield, Blue Cross, Champus, Mail Handlers and HMO’s. Please direct any questions or concerns regarding your insurance or bills to our Billing Clerk. If you do not have any health insurance, our Business Manager will meet with you. Our Billing Clerk is available from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for questions you may have regarding a bill or insurance form that you do not understand.
